Before purchasing an eSim and to avoid disappointment, please check that your device supports eSim. As of 2024, 92% of new phones support eSim – however New Zealanders have a tendency to keep old phones a lot longer than other countries.
The quick way to tell if your phone supports eSim is to check your mobile data settings for mention of eSim.
We’ve compiled a list of known eSim compatible phones. If your phone is eSim compatible, it must also be unlocked. If you’re sim locked to another provider (common with finance pay monthly deals), you may need to unlock it with your existing provider, before using an eSim.
